AppearsIn

Extension

Install the extension, connect the Reddit account already in the browser, and what the side panel posts.

Install

Install the AppearsIn extension from the Chrome Web Store. Open the extension page for the install button. The page and the extension find each other automatically. If the extension is missing, signed out, or signed in as someone else, a bar at the top of the app says so and offers Install, Sign in, or Reconnect.

Connect your Reddit account

Sign in to Reddit in the same browser. Open the extension's side panel and press Sync. The extension reads your username, karma, and account age from Reddit's own account endpoint for the page you are signed in on, so it works from any Reddit page and does not need your profile open. It sends them to AppearsIn and never asks for a Reddit password.

Connecting the extension and syncing a Reddit account are separate steps. Connecting signs the extension in to AppearsIn, so the side panel shows you as signed in. The Reddit account only appears on the Reddit page after you press Sync. Until then it shows 0 of 1 Reddit accounts. The limit is your plan's Reddit account allowance.

More than one Reddit account

Reddit signs in one account at a time per browser profile, and the extension posts as whichever account is signed in. To use several accounts, give each its own Chrome profile:

  1. Create a Chrome profile for the account, and sign in to that Reddit account in it.
  2. Install the AppearsIn extension in that profile, and connect it to your AppearsIn account from the bar at the top of the app.
  3. Open reddit.com in that profile and press Sync in the side panel.

Each profile's account then appears on the Reddit page. Your plan sets how many you can have (see Plans). Switching accounts inside one profile also works, but you must sign out and in on Reddit and press Sync again each time.

Two things to know. A draft is not tied to an account: it is posted by the profile you post it from, so pick the profile whose account fits the community. And the karma hold on promotional drafts is checked against the account that synced most recently.

How and when it posts

There are two ways a comment goes out. You can post by hand from the side panel, or you can let the extension post approved drafts automatically.

By hand

Automatically

Preferences, Replies, Automatic posting turns this on or off for each project. When it is on, the extension checks once a minute for an approved draft and posts it without you pressing anything. AppearsIn decides what may go next and enforces these limits whatever the browser does:

The side panel shows what automatic posting is doing, and why when it is held, and has a Pause button. We can also pause automatic posting for everyone at once if a problem comes up. Comments you post with Copy and open do not count toward the daily limit. Posting more, or faster, than a person would risks Reddit limiting or banning the account, so keep the limits low on a new account.

Either way

It posts as the Reddit account that is signed in to that browser profile at that moment, by working in the Reddit page the way you would. It does not use a Reddit password or API key, and AppearsIn never holds your Reddit credentials. Only approved drafts can be posted. New projects approve reply, warm-up, LLM-trusted, and brand-monitor drafts automatically, and you can switch any of those back to waiting for Use this in Preferences. After the comment appears, the extension sends its link back to AppearsIn so the draft moves to Sent. Nothing else from your browsing is read or sent.

What the side panel posts

The panel lists drafts with status ready, which are the ones you approved with Use this. Post oldest opens the oldest ready thread, fills Reddit's comment box, submits it, and reports the comment URL back. Open fills the box without submitting, so you can edit and press Comment yourself. Skip marks the draft passed.

If Reddit is signed out the panel says so and the queue is untouched. If the box cannot be filled, the draft stays ready with an error message. If the comment posted but its link could not be read, paste the link into the panel field.

If something looks wrong

What it does not do

It does not vote, browse Reddit on its own, scan your inbox, or call any AI or search service. Permissions are storage, side panel, tabs, and alarms (the once-a-minute check), plus www.reddit.com and appearsin.com.
