Use this versus Copy and open

Use this marks a draft ready. The extension opens the thread, fills the comment box, submits it, and stores the comment URL. Copy and open copies the draft and opens the thread without the extension. You paste it and press Comment yourself, and no comment URL is stored.

How it posts

The extension never has your Reddit password. It works inside the Reddit page, as the account already signed in to your browser, the way you would. For a draft you have approved, it opens the thread, finds Reddit's comment box, fills it with your text and, if you asked it to post, presses Comment. It then reads the new comment's link and sends it back to AppearsIn, so the draft moves to Sent. Nothing else from your browsing is read or sent.

By hand

Open fills the comment box and leaves the final press to you. Post sends the comment itself. Both are buttons in the side panel, and nothing is posted until you press one.

Automatically

If you turn on automatic posting for a project, the extension checks once a minute for an approved draft and posts it in a tab it opens out of sight and closes again. AppearsIn decides what may go next and enforces the limits, so they hold whatever the browser does.

These lower the risk and do not remove it. Read is it safe to automate Reddit comments before you turn it on.

  4. Approve a draft with Use this on the Threads page. It appears in the side panel.

Questions

What does the AppearsIn Chrome extension do?

It posts the Reddit replies you approved in AppearsIn. It opens the thread, fills Reddit's comment box from your draft, and submits it, either when you press a button in the side panel or automatically within daily limits you set. It then sends the comment's link back to AppearsIn.

Does the extension need my Reddit password?

No. It works in the Reddit page the way you would, as the account already signed in to your browser. AppearsIn never asks for or stores your Reddit credentials.

Does it post on its own?

Only if you turn automatic posting on. By default you press a button for each reply. With automatic posting on, it posts approved drafts one at a time within your daily limit, with a gap and a random wait between posts, and you can pause it from the side panel.

What permissions does it ask for?

Storage, the side panel, tabs and alarms, plus access to www.reddit.com and appearsin.com. It does not use cookies, web request interception or notifications.

What happens if my account is suspended or comments are removed?

Automatic posting stops. It pauses if Reddit reports the account as suspended, and if two of the last five comments were removed, until you review them. It also records any community that banned the account.

Can I use more than one Reddit account?

Reddit signs in one account at a time per browser profile. To use several, give each its own Chrome profile with the extension installed and press Sync in each. Your plan sets how many accounts you can have.

Which browsers does it work in?

Chrome. It is built on Manifest V3 and uses the side panel, which Chrome provides.
