AppearsIn

AI visibility tracking for marketing teams

AppearsIn is software that helps a brand get named in AI answers. It finds the Reddit threads that already rank for a buyer's questions, drafts one reply per thread in your voice, and posts it from your own Reddit account after you approve it. It also tracks whether ChatGPT, Google AI Overview, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok and Meta Muse Spark name your brand, and where Reddit and the wider web mention you and your competitors.

For marketing teams who have been asked to own visibility in AI answers, AppearsIn is an AI-visibility tracker that measures whether seven engines name your brand, who they name instead and which pages they cite, and then helps you act on the Reddit threads behind the answers. Unlike listening tools that only alert you, it drafts the replies and posts the ones you approve.

The short answer

You have been asked how often AI assistants mention the brand. AppearsIn tracks a fixed list of buying questions across ChatGPT, Google AI Overview, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok and Meta Muse Spark (ChatGPT, Google AI Overview, Gemini and Perplexity every week, and Claude, Meta Muse Spark and Grok about once a month), and reports visibility, share of voice, position, sentiment and the cited sources. It then finds the Reddit threads behind those answers and drafts the replies.

Measuring something that moves

AI answers are not search rankings. The same question can give different answers minutes apart, engines draw on different sources, and none of them publishes a stable position. A one-off screenshot is an anecdote, and a leadership team that asks "are we in ChatGPT" deserves better.

What you need is a fixed list of the questions buyers ask, run on a schedule across the engines they use, with the results kept so you can see a trend, plus the sources behind each answer so you know where to work. That is a measurement discipline more than a tool, and the tracking guide sets it out in full.

What AppearsIn reports

  • Score. The share of your tracked questions where any engine named you, in bands from Poor to Excellent.
  • Rankings. For your brand and each competitor: visibility, share of voice, average position and the most common sentiment.
  • Questions. Each question with its visibility, sentiment, position and mentions.
  • Wording. The latest answer excerpts grouped by topic, so you can read what the engines actually say about you.
  • Cited. The domains the engines cite, with how often and for how many questions.
  • Heard. Where Reddit and the web already name you or a competitor, with the sentiment, and a way to turn a Reddit mention into a drafted reply.
  • Referrers. If you connect Google Analytics, how much traffic arrives from AI assistants and Reddit.

Every number comes from stored answers you can open, and the page explains how each is calculated.

From the numbers to action

The cited sources are the work list. If the same lists, review pages and Reddit threads appear across your questions, those pages decide the answers. AppearsIn finds the Reddit threads that rank for the questions you track and drafts a reply for each, so the Reddit part of the work is a review queue rather than a research project. For the rest, the guide to getting mentioned covers your own pages and third-party profiles.

AppearsIn does not control what any engine says and it does not promise a result. It makes the picture clear and the Reddit work fast.

Plans for a marketing team

Every plan has unlimited seats, so the whole team can see the same numbers. On every plan ChatGPT, Google AI Overview, Gemini and Perplexity are checked weekly and Claude, Meta Muse Spark and Grok about monthly. Lite is $49 a month for 20 questions. Starter includes 50 tracked questions, Growth 100 and Pro 200, and you can add 100 more for $100 a month. Growth also adds two more projects and Reddit accounts. Questions

Which AI engines does AppearsIn track?

ChatGPT, Google AI Overview, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok and Meta Muse Spark. For every question you track, ChatGPT, Google AI Overview, Gemini and Perplexity every week, and Claude, Meta Muse Spark and Grok about once a month.

How many questions should we track?

Thirty to a hundred is a good start. Fewer than about twenty is too noisy to read, and the plan limits are 50, 100 and 200.

Why do the numbers move between weeks?

Answers vary from run to run, sources change and engines update. Look at trends over several weeks, not single readings.

Can we see which sources the engines cite?

Yes. The Cited view lists the domains cited, how often and for how many questions, and the Wording view shows the answer text.

Does it replace a listening tool?

It overlaps on Reddit and a set of review and community sites, but it is not a broad social listening suite. Teams that need wide listening often use one alongside it.
