An upgrade starts straight away and is charged at the full price of the new plan, with no proration and no credit for the plan you leave, which is cancelled when the new one starts. You see the exact charge before you go to checkout. A lower plan starts when your current period ends.

Yes, from Preferences, Plan. Cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep access until the end of the period you paid for. You can also pause for 1, 2 or 3 months instead: your plan stays active until the period you paid for ends, then it is off with no charge and resumes by itself, and nothing you built is lost. We ask why, in one question, so we can improve.

Lite tracks 20 questions on 5 communities, and includes 3 articles a month. Starter tracks 50 questions on 10 communities and includes 8 articles. Both check the engines on the same schedule, so the difference is how many questions, communities and articles you get. Lite cannot buy add-ons, so move to Starter when you outgrow it.

Each plan has a monthly allowance, because every article is researched, written and illustrated for a real cost: 3 on Lite, 8 on Starter, 20 on Growth and 40 on Pro. Rewriting an article counts as one, and the allowance renews with your billing month.
