Content
Write an article from a buyer question, then copy it or post it to your blog.
Skipped questions
Skipped lists questions where the latest answers on every engine do not name your brand. Each row shows who was named instead, among your competitors, and which engines were checked.
Writing an article
The write button on a skipped question creates one article. It runs in the background, so you can leave the page, and the page updates when the article is ready. This takes a few minutes. Find it in Content. Each plan has a monthly allowance (3 on Lite, 8 on Starter, 20 on Growth, 40 on Pro).
The process, in order:
- Research. OpenAI searches the web for the question and reports sourced notes: the main options, what each is for, current facts and numbers, and the source of each. It runs at most four searches, so the cost stays bounded. If the web search fails, the top Google results are used instead.
- Draft. Claude (Sonnet 5.5) writes an intro that answers the question straight away, then three sections and a closing line, from the question, the research notes and your project's description, talking points and voice. Facts about your product come only from your project. Facts about the topic come only from the research notes. If a fact is in neither, it is left out, and the model does not invent features, prices or quotes.
- Length. The target is 2,500 to 5,000 words. If the draft lands outside that, the model revises it up to twice, longer or shorter. The preview tells you if the article still misses the target.
- Pictures. One featured image, with the title on it, and one picture for each section, made with OpenAI's image model. If a picture fails, the article is kept without it and the preview says why.
Content preferences
Preferences, Content sets how this project's articles are written and illustrated. Changes apply to articles written after you save.
- Brand color. Pick one, type a hex code such as
#2563EB, or press Detect from logo. Detection takes the most prominent color in your site's logo and ignores white, black, grey and transparent areas. A logo that is only black, white or grey has no color to read, so you choose one. When AppearsIn first finds your logo it fills the color in for you, and it never replaces one you chose. With none set, a default blue is used. - Pictures. A picture for each section on or off (off leaves only the featured image), the article's title on the featured image on or off, and a style for the featured image and for the section pictures: sketch, watercolor, realistic, illustration, or brand and text. Each style shows a sample picture so you can see what you are choosing. Every picture is made in your brand color.
- Automatic posting. Once a Ghost blog is connected, choose whether a new article is left for you, sent to Ghost as a draft, or published live. It is the same setting as on the Content page. See Ghost.
- Writing. The article style (informative, how-to guide, comparison, listicle, opinion or case study), writing as "we" or in a neutral voice, a closing call to action, comparing with similar products or keeping to yours, and emojis.
- Your own instructions. Up to 1,500 characters added to every article's brief, for example "always give a price range". They are preferences only: they cannot override the rule against inventing facts, features, prices or quotes.
How many you can write
Every article is researched, written and illustrated for a real cost, so each plan has a monthly allowance: 3 on Lite, 8 on Starter, 20 on Growth and 40 on Pro. A rewrite counts as one article, and the allowance renews with your billing month. The Content page shows how many you have left, and writing is paused when the allowance, or this month's spending allowance for your workspace, is used up.
What it costs
Every call to the writer, the web search and the image service is recorded against your workspace and appears on the admin cost pages. Each article also shows its own total, in the list and on the preview, for example 3,638 words, 4 pictures, $0.21. The cost is an estimate from the configured prices, not your invoice. It depends on the model, how long the article runs and the image quality.
What you can do with an article
- Preview it. Press Preview, or the title, to read the article laid out as it will look on a blog, with its pictures, headings, lists and tables, and without the Markdown.
- Rewrite it with pictures. On the preview, Rewrite with pictures runs the whole process again for the same question and replaces the article and its pictures. Use it on an older, shorter article. It costs the same as writing a new one, and it is not available once the article is on Ghost.
- Copy Markdown to paste it into any site or editor. The pictures are not included, because they live in AppearsIn, so save them from the preview if you need them.
- Post it to your Ghost blog, by hand or automatically. See Ghost for setup and the three posting modes.
Each article shows whether it is not posted, a draft on Ghost, or live on Ghost, with a link to open it there. AppearsIn never changes an article after it has gone to Ghost, so edit it in Ghost from then on.
Read before you publish
The model writes from your project description and the question, not from research. Read an article before it goes live, and check any claim about your product or pricing. Sending to Ghost as a draft is the safest way to do that.
